Studio Policies

Tuition

Lessons will be billed monthly according to the number of sessions during the month in question, accounting for any holidays the studio will be closed and credits due to my absence.  Payment will be accepted through automatic card payments.

Expectations

  • Be on time to scheduled appointments and events.

  • Bring necessary materials to each lesson.

  • Be respectful of my home, its possessions, the inhabitants, and please no food or drink.   Any violation of this may result in immediate termination of lessons for the day or permanently.

  • Practice daily according to my suggestion.

  • Complete theory homework assigned, unless there is confusion on how it is to be completed.

  • Be willing and ready to listen and learn during the lesson. Music is difficult and requires patience and concentration.

Parents/Guardians:
  • Encourage your child to practice!

  • Encourage your child when you hear them improve!

  • Encourage your child when they become frustrated!

  • Provide your child with an instrument on which they can practice.

  • Provide your child with the necessary materials that they will need for lessons.

Teacher Responsibilities:
  • I will do my part to help students attain their musical goals

  • I will teach students how to practice effectively

  • I will teach the student a well-rounded approach which will include theory, piano, technique, repertoire, and more.

  • I will tailor the lessons as best I can to the needs of the student and their goals, accounting for unique personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and physical or mental differences.

  • I will encourage the students in their progress and strengths and help them improve past their weakness.

  • I will listen to feedback received from students and parents in an effort to continue to improve as a teacher.

Books

Books are not included in tuition and are the financial responsibility of the student/parent/guardian.

Cancellations

Cancellations are required 24 hours in advance and a makeup will be arranged if requested and is possible.  If 24 hours advance notice is not given, no make-up will be required to be given. 

 

If the student arrives late their lesson will still conclude at their scheduled time. Any student more than 15 minutes late will be marked a no-show, and no credit or make-up will be required to be given.

 

Cancellations due to unsafe weather may occur without warning.  A credit or make-up will be given according to the instance.

 

By default, the studio will be closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving weekend, and Christmas.  The studio will not close for summer.

Cessation of Lessons

If you discontinue lessons, please give 2 weeks notice in advance.  Prepaid tuition is non-refundable.

Communication Policy

I will communicate important information verbally, in writing, by phone call, text, and/or email.  I will try to accommodate to the method preferred, but I will not be held responsible for any unread email or text, un-listened to voice-mail, or lack of communication from unprovided or dysfunctional contact information.

Child Protection Policy

Parents and guardians are always welcome to stay in the waiting area within earshot and visual range of a private lesson, as long they do not disturb the lesson and sacrifice the quality of instruction.  If at any point you have concerns, contact me immediately.

Policy Changes

Policy is subject to change at any point.  You will be alerted if there are changes.
